Abstract

Radiothyroxine (*T4) injection site (coelom, liver, eye orbit, or gut lumen) influenced disappearance of plasma protein bound radioactivity, thyroxine distribution space, and organ radioactivity uptake of brook trout.Eye injection, which is preferred for T4 metabolic clearance studies, resulted in high bile radioactivity. Thus, previously described bile uptake of *T4 is not due to *T4 intraperitoneal injection close to enterohepatic organs.Low *T4 gut uptake implies limited enterohepatic *T4 recycling.
