Abstract

A theoretical analysis is given for the inclusion of centrifugal, convective inertia forces and turbulence on the performance of externally pressurized circular bearings. The solution of the governing equation is obtained numerically by an iterative numerical method. The combined effect of both inertia forces on the load-carrying capacity, flow rate and frictional power are discussed in which the effects of the centrifugal and convective inertia forces are compared with each other.
