Abstract

In this paper, the possibility of using granite powder and bottom ash in high strength concrete mix is evaluated. Phase composition and microstructure of the aggregate are reported using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The laboratory investigation focuses on addressing the impact of different combinations of wastes (0% to 40%) on fresh and hardened state behaviour of high strength concrete at different ages and exposure conditions. Even though the inclusion of these wastes individually in concrete showed detrimental effects on strength properties, the waste in combination did not show significant influence on mechanical and durability parameters.
