Abstract

By HIP processing, the NiAl-20 vol% TiC in situ composite fabricated by the hot-pressing aided exothermic synthesis (HPES) technique was further densified and the TiC particles in the NiAl matrix tended to become round, and the NiAl TiC interfaces, which were flat and smooth, become overlapping in most cases. The effect of the microstructure on yield strength is also discussed.
