Abstract

In the power system with a high proportion of renewable energy, parts of traditional synchronous machines will be replaced by large-scale wind power and photovoltaic. The system inertia will change in characteristics and forms. For studying the change of rotational inertia characteristics, the concept of conventional synchronous generator inertia will be extended and a generalized inertia definition of the power system will be proposed in this paper based on the physical properties of inertia to resist the frequency change of the system. Establishing a power system of 4-machine 2-area and the algorithm of synchronous machine and power system node inertia will be built based on MATLAB. Finally, the temporal and spatial characteristics under disturbance will be studied, the trend of node inertia change in the power system with a high proportion of renewable energy penetration also be proposed.
