Abstract
For the ultra precision processing of higher purity aluminium disk, a high porous PVA resin bonded grinding stone including fine abrasive grains of SiC is used. Aqueous emulsion of a specific grinding fluid is very important in bringing out the best grinding ability in the grinding stone. Grinding fluids containing alkanol amine and alkyl-ether of alkylene oxide as main components were developed. The use of the developed grinding fluid improves the metal removal by about 50% and surface roughness by about 30%. Further, the use of grinding fluid containing dibasic fatty acid gives good results on the aluminium disk based on 99.99% aluminium, especially in maintaining constant grinding ability.
