Abstract

Total peripheral resistance was measured in conscious ponies, and at predetermined intervals during 2 h periods of thiopentone-halothane and thiopentone-ether anaesthesia. A tendency was noted for peripheral resistance to decrease during anaesthesia with each agent. These alterations from the control state were significant at certain times during halothane anaesthesia, but not during ether anaesthesia.
