Abstract

Objectives: Differences in vascular reactivity have been associated to variable NO release due to the G894T polymorphism of the eNOS gene. Carriers of the 894T allele are known to have enhanced vascular responsivness to α-adrenergic stimulation which may have an effect on postoperative hemodynamics after cardiac surgery. Thus we hypothesized that the G894T gene polymorphism should influence perioperative hemodynamics and vascular resistance in patients undergoing cardiac surgery.
