Abstract

AbstractThe influence of free convection on the formation of inclusions, growth bands and dislocations in potassium bichromate crystals grown by self‐nucleation and on freely hanging seeds from aqueous solutions in a wide range of temperature is studied. It is found that in free convection all the three types of defects appear mainly in the top sectors but in stirred solutions the slow‐growing faces are more defective.
