Abstract

A series of RE (Eu2+, Dy3+, Eu2+/Dy3+) doped CaAl2Si2O8 phosphors has been synthesized via the combustion method. The influence of flux on the structural and optical properties of CaAl2Si2O8 phosphor has been investigated. XRD and SEM investigations confirm the phase purity and morphology of the prepared phosphor. Further, photoluminescence excitation and emission of the RE (Eu2+, Dy3+, Eu2+/Dy3+) doped CaAl2Si2O8 phosphor exhibit the characteristic bands of the RE ions. The energy transfer mechanism between Eu2+/Dy3+ doped CaAl2Si2O8 phosphor is studied, and the corresponding luminescence decay time of the rare ions is being reported successfully. Thus, RE (Eu2+, Dy3+, Eu2+/Dy3+) doped CaAl2Si2O8 phosphor is a promising and stable structure host for LED applications.
