Abstract

To explore the influence of far-field long-period ground motion on the seismic response of free-rocking isolated bridge piers, the finite element model is established with the platform of OpenSees. Three far-field long-period ground motions and three common ground motion records are input respectively. Test data such as pier top displacement, pier bottom rotation angle, bending moment of the bottom of the pier are obtained. The results show that the pier top displacement and the bottom rotation angle of the free-rocking isolated pier under far-field long-period ground motion are much larger than those of the common ground motion, while the bending moment of the bottom of the pier is not much different from the common ground motion. And combined with the existing shaking table test data, the simulated data like the pier top displacement and the bottom bending moment under the far-field long-period ground motion and common ground motion are basically consistent with the test.
