Abstract

This work describes the influence of extraction modes and temperature on the supercritical fluid extraction of peels of the baiana variety of Citrus sinensis (Osbeck). The dynamic, static, and conjugated (static following by dynamic extraction) modes with different modifiers added to supercritical CO 2 as well as two different temperatures are studied. The principal compounds in the extracts are analyzed by capillary gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Different chromatographic profiles are obtained when either the modifier, extraction mode, or temperature are changed. Five compounds are identified in the extracts: |3-myrcene, 1,8-cineole, d-limonene, dihydrocarveole, and caryophylene.
