Abstract
Two optimal pH values for non cyclic photophosphorylation activity in chloroplasts isolated from cucumber primary leaves and leaves were found. Two optimal pH values were also found for chloroplasts isolated from pea leaves. Experiments were performed with chloroplasts isolated from pea cultured under low and high light intensity. Photophosphorylation was also investigated in chloroplasts in which either pigment system PSi or PS2 was blocked. These experiments enable us to ascribe one optimal pH value to the action of pigment system PSi and plastoquinone pool, while the second optimal pH value to the fucntion of PS2 and water splitting enzyme system.
