Abstract

Background: The clinical value of capsule endoscopy is clear but many aspects of its practical use remain to be defined. Aim: To determine examiner-dependent factors on the detection rate of lesions in capsule endoscopy. Methods: Two training videos (A and B) of capsule endoscopy lasting 330 seconds each were reviewed by 72 experienced gastroenterologists [advanced capsule endocopists (ADV): 14, intermediate (INT): 7; beginners (BEG): 50]. One video was read using the conventional hardware while the second video was read using an additionally connected jog-shuttle device (JSD) that allowed for immediate adjustment of scanning speed.
