Abstract

Significantly reduced spontaneous growth hormone (GH) secretion has been observed in girls with Turner’s syndrome of pubertal age compared to age matched controls, while prepubertal patients showed no reduction in GH secretion [1]. A possible explanation for this observation could be the absence of estrogen and its modulating effect on GH secretion in this patient group. The aim of our investigation was to analyze the influence of low dose estrogen (E2) substitution on GH-response to GH-RH and L-dopa-propranolol as well as on serum SM-C levels.
