Abstract

Our objective is to identify entrepreneurial orientation (EO) dimensions of businesswomen that improve their business performance in the Bangladesh context where challenging business environments and women’s societal position seem to be hindrances for women’s business performance. We have collected data through a survey using a structured questionnaire from a sample of in total 300 Bangladeshi handicrafts businesswomen. An exploratory factor analysis finds that EO dimensions of businesswomen in Bangladesh are innovative and risk-taking in nature. Hierarchical multiple regression models find that both innovative and risk-taking EO dimensions have a significant positive influence on women’s business performance. However, a traditional society has a negative influence on women’s business performance. Furthermore, women’s financial capital and challenging business environment have a positive influence on their business performance.
