Influence of english language on women entrepreneurs in Mysore

Abstract

This paper aims at analysing the influence of English language on women entrepreneurs in Mysore. Few successful women entrepreneurs are interviewed and direct data has been collected. It is found that they have definitely achieved the heights of prosperity with their own personal qualities with the help of the global language. In the last two decades there has been growing awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship and new venture creation, since innovation and enterprise are regarded as crucial determinants of economic growth and prosperity. However, to encourage entrepreneurship, there is a need to understand the factors and decision making processes that lead an individual to become an entrepreneur; of which, despite decades of research, scholars currently have only a limited understanding. In recent research, there is a growing recognition that socio-psychological processes, along with cognitive ones, can lead to a better understanding of these factors. Many women entrepreneurs have tried to subordinate their personal life to the responsibilities of entrepreneurial risks. It is therefore important to examine how far women entrepreneurs can manage both the responsibilities. The knowledge of English and communicational skills with their educational background has helped them a great way to balance both. One of the primary benefits of learning English is that it is considered as the language of global business. The international business community uses it for communication. Speaking and understanding English can let a person more easily communicate with others and find more job opportunities not only in his or her home country, but around the world as well. There are also many professional informative publications printed in English, which means it is often an essential language for anyone working in commerce, humanities, science or research.
