Abstract

It is shown that the contrast of the image reconstructed from a Gabor hologram is determined by the Hurter-Driffield curve of the emulsion and not by its transmittance curve. The best recording conditions are deduced and the corresponding image contrast is evaluated. The demonstration is generalized to the case of multiple exposures and to hologram copies.
