Abstract
A stable operation of the KfK gyrotron in the TE 03 mode was possible only with an eccentric hollow electron beam. In order to understand this effect, we study theoretically the influence of displacement of the electron beam from its central position in a resonator on efficiency and mode competition in gyrotrons.
