Abstract

The Weisskopf–Wigner solution of a two-level decay is extended to a simple three-level model. We calculate the influence of daughter state decay on the decay rate of the initial state. We show that this effect is dependent on the exact form of the spectral density functions, precluding a general quantum Zeno effect.
