Abstract

Purpose: This descriptive research attempts to provide the basis for improving the multicultural awareness of nursing freshmen by identifying the effect of cultural competency and intercultural communication skills. Methods: This self-assessment study comprised 200 nursing students. The data collected were analyzed applying frequency analysis, technical statistics, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coordinators using the SPSS WIN 23.0 program. Results: The primary factor influencing the multicultural awareness of nursing college students was the communication ability between cultures, and the explanatory power was 67.5%. Conclusion: It is necessary to nurture intercultural communication skills. Furthermore, it is essential to support the development of nursing programs and the implementation of education directed toward such communications.
