Abstract

We present results of investigations of the microelectrochemical heterogeneity of surfaces of steels 20, 30KhMA, and 12Kh21N5T after corrosion in chloride–sulfide media. The character of corrosion of steels in solutions containing chloride and sulfide ions is elucidated. It is shown that, during corrosion of steel 20 in solutions where passivation is observed, the microelectrochemical heterogeneity of the surface is higher than that after its active dissolution. Dense passivating films on the surface of the stainless steel cause its smaller microelectrochemical heterogeneity after corrosion in all investigated solutions than those for steels 20 and 30KhMA.
