Abstract

The influence of contact friction on the geometry of shaped pipes is considered. The process of profiling of faceted pipes by the method of cold mandrel-free drawing in one pass has been studied. The study was carried out for the pipes made of brass L63 and titanium VT1-0. A computer experiment was carried out using the DEFORM software. The results of the theoretical study were verified by carrying out a full-scale experiment. The outcomes of a comparative analysis of results of the computational and full-scale experiments showed a satisfactory convergence. The presented data are of practical use for manufacturers and consumers of technological equipment, since they allow predicting the shape changes in pipes and their adjusting in case of using the presented computer model when choosing a lubricant.
