Abstract

Calculations using a standard solar model show that the decrease in proton-proton chain nuclear reaction rates due to collective plasma processes increases the theoretical solar neutrino flux, while the decrease in the opacity of the solar interior associated with the same processes decreases this flux. Taking into account both of these effects decreases the total neutrino flux, easing the solar neutrino problem.
