Abstract

Ag nanoparticles are becoming increasingly important for catalysts and sensors applications. Controlling the surface coating of Ag particles is necessary in their electronic devices application. However, the serious aggregation of Ag particles has hindered advances in optical tunability and surface plasmon resonance enhancement. Homogeneous coating of Ag particles were successfully synthesized on ZnSe microspheres surface by silver mirror reaction. By tailoring the cleaning times, it was shown that the structure, optical properties and electrical conductivity of Ag/ZnSe composites could be affected. By choosing the proper amount of cleaning time, Ag particles could be deposited on the surface of ZnSe microspheres without serious aggregation, yielding Ag/ZnSe maintained the original conductivity of ZnSe microspheres.
