Abstract
THE effects of stimulation of testicular Leydig cells by chorionic gonadotropin are well known. Since the ovarian hilus cells are morphologically identical with and probably functionally related to Leydig cells, they might also be expected to respond to chorionic gonadotropin. Morphologic changes in response to such hormonal stimulation would suggest that the cells are functionally active, and not merely embryologic rudiments. Furthermore, the character of the cytologic response might xeamrm the kinship of the ovarian cells to testicular Leydig cells.
