Abstract

Abstract The influence of Ca in place of Sr and Eu and Yb in place of La on the superconducting and normal state behaviour of La 1.8 Sr 0.2 CuO 4 has been investigated. Eu and Ca substituents depress zero resistance temperature (T c ). A semiconducting (localization)-like behaviour, qualitatively scaling with cation concentration, is observed for the air-annealed Ca specimens, whereas Eu and Yb substitutions do not very much alter the normal state behaviour. The data are discussed in terms of possible size and charge mismatch effects.
