Abstract

Air flow through a convergent axi-symmetric nozzle expanded suddenly into a circular parallel shroud with annular cavities was studies experimentally. The purpose of providing cavities was to create secondary vortices in the enlarged duct. Attention was mainly focused on the effects of secondary vortices on base pressure and flow field development in the enlarged section of the flow passage.
