Abstract

1. In carbon vacuum deoxidation by the method of pouring from ladle to ladle and subsequent teeming in air there is an increase in impact strength and ductility, a decrease in the tendency toward temper embrittlement, and a reduction in the brittle-ductile transformation temperature. 2. Large critical forgings of alloy steels and also machine parts intended for service in the northern regions of the USSR should be made of carbon vacuum deoxidized steel.
