Abstract

The relation of melt viscosity to weight-average molecular weight and branching index has been derived for polydisperse polymers, with the most probable distribution of primary chains, having randomly distributed tri- or tetrafunctional branch points. The results are obtained by an extension of theKilb treatment for the intrinsic viscosity calculations. Numerical values of the viscosity functions are given for selected branching indices.
