Abstract

The rapid quenching method was used to prepare some of Bismuth Boro-Iron glasses doped with a constant amount of iron ions. The melting temperature adjusted to be about 1000±50°C. The obtained glasses were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR and Mossbauer Effect (ME) spectra. Both of XRD and ME showed that all samples of x<15 had formed pure glass phases, while the sample of x=15 exhibited crystalline phase embedded in an amorphous structure. DC activation energy was observed to increase as Bi content increase. Cole-Cole parameters referred to a distribution of the relaxation time. The refractive index as the Bi ion was increased.
