Abstract

In this paper, we propose the replacement of hybrid oxide reinforcement by mono-synthesized Al2TiO5 reinforcement particles to reduce the hybrid ceramic particle selection difficulties. The bottom pouring stir casting method produces AA6061/Al2TiO5 composite plates with a uniform distribution of particles. The challenges of mono-synthesized composite plate density, tensile, impact, and hardness have been addressed with XRD, microstructure, and fractography analysis. The results show the ability of mono-synthesized particles in the composite plates. The tensile (13.9%), impact (26.98%), and hardness (21.9%) of the AA6061/Al2TiO5 plate are moderately improved by mono-synthesized oxide reinforcement particles.
