Abstract

The performance of CI1-xGxS solar cells was studied by investigating the effects of composition (x) on affinity and band gap according to an experimental equation using a 2D-ATLAS simulator. Based on the simulation results, the highest efficiency of 22.69% was obtained at an optimum composition of x = 0.3. The influence of x on other parameters of solar cells including short-circuit current (JSC), open-circuit voltage (VOC), and fill factor (%FF) was also examined. Investigating the effect of ambient temperature on the above-mentioned parameters at the optimum composition revealed a reduction in reliability when increasing the ambient temperature. This phenomenon was found to originate from lattice scattering and a reduction in carrier mobility.
