Abstract

Objective To explore the influence of affective leadership perception on retention intention of male nurses in ICU. Methods In February 2017, by convenience sampling, a total of 276 male ICU nurses from eight Grade Ⅲ hospitals in Zhejiang Province were selected, and surveyed by affective leadership scale and retention intention scale for nurses. Results The scores of retention intention and perceived affective leadership of these male ICU nurses were (17.55±2.85) and (25.48±2.52) , with the two positively correlated (P<0.05) ; main factors influencing male ICU nurses' retention intention included monthly income, advanced retraining experiences for specialty nurses, affective leadership and two of its dimensions: affective concern and affective management. Conclusions The higher the level of affective concern and emotion management in perceived leadership, the higher the level of retention intention in male ICU nurses.
