Abstract

Abrasive water jet cutting is an advanced machining process where the material is removed by the erosion of rough abrasive particles mixed high pressure of water jet velocity for hard metals and composite materials. In this study, the cutting of glass fiber reinforced polymer is carried out where the machining parameters are stand-off distance, water jet pressure, abrasive mass flow rate and traverse rate are considered for the machining operation. The outcomes of the experiment are material removal rate, kerf width and kerf taper angle. The graphs are plotted between the machining parameters and the outcomes, to study the significant, parameters for the better machining of the composite materials.
