Abstract
An experimental investigation was made of the influence of a transverse magnetic field H on the output power and noise of 0.63 μm radiation emitted by an He–Ne laser pumped by a transverse microwave discharge. An increase (for EH) or a reduction (EH) in the output power was observed under the influence of the transverse magnetic field (here, E is the intensity of a microwave field). The strongest enhancement in the output power due to the application of the transverse magnetic field of intensity H = 400 Oe reached 30–50% for the TEM00q mode and 10–35% for the TEM33q mode. The transverse magnetic field applied to the EH configuration increased the radiation noise in the frequency range 1–20 kHz, but in the EH case the magnetic field did not influence the noise.
