Abstract

In this work the high-temperature low-cycle fatigue behaviours of the NiCrAlY-coated, directionally solidified nickel-base superalloy CM 247 LC and the bulk NiCrAlY coating material PCA-1 have been investigated. Attention has been focused on the temperature dependence of the fatigue life endurance of the coating–substrate composite and the bulk coating material in the temperature range 400–1000 °C. It could be shown that the fatigue properties of the bulk NiCrAlY coating material essentially control the fatigue life of the coating–substrate composite.
