Abstract

This study was conducted at Central Luzon State University and sought to examine the influence of the 2016 televised Philippine presidential debate on CLSU students’ vote choice. A total of 80 respondents were selected using a simple random sampling method. The results of the study show that the third televised Philippine presidential debate was the most-watched among three and most of the respondents watched to be informed while considering the time of airing. The presidential debates had a low influence on the respondents’ knowledge and had a very low influence on the attitude of the respondents towards presidential aspirants. The findings of the study concluded that aspirant’s future plans had a high tendency to influence the respondent’s voting-decision during the 2016 Philippine Presidential Election.
