Abstract
The multi-body system models of vehicle and pedestrian are developed through the coupling of PC-Crash and embedded MADYMO. The influence laws of pedestrianpsilas head throw distance on vehicle body surface and vehicle impact speed thresholds under different collision circumstances are in depth analyzed from main factors influencing on pedestrianpsilas head throw distance. Furthermore, the mathematical relationships between pedestrianpsilas head throw distance (i.e. longitudinal throw distance and transverse throw distance) and vehicle impact speed are derived from regression analyses. The comparisons of simulation results with real world and staged vehicle/pedestrian impacts have verified a good harmony and consistency between them, these regression models can be used to assess vehicle impact speed or pedestrian speed. The results documented in this paper will be of practical value in dynamics analysis and technical appraisal of a vehicle/pedestrian collision.
