Abstract

In article number 2100370, Alexandros Marios Sofias, Sjoerd Hak, and co-workers, report that cRGD-decorated lipid nanoparticles target inflammatory lesions via hitchhiking with phagocytes. Through a complementary approach including state-of-the-art intravital microscopy, it is identified that neutrophils and monocytes take up cRGD-decorated liposomes and nanoemulsions in circulation and subsequently home to the inflammatory lesion. Cover art: flowers (red) resemble phagocytes loaded with cRGD-decorated lipid nanoparticles in the inflammatory lesion, grass (green) resembles the inflammatory lesion, foot-path (yellow) resembles a blood vessel proximal to the inflamed tissue.
