Abstract
The dentigerous cyst is an extremely common pathologic entity encountered by the oral and maxillofacial surgeon. After the radicular cyst, dentigerous cysts are the most frequent odontogenic cyst diagnosed, accounting for 20% of all mandibular cysts. Typically, they are associated with impacted teeth, usually third molars, and they generally are asymptomatic, being found on routine dental radiographic examination. Symptoms develop only as they enlarge, creating pain or bony expansion. In this report, we describe the case of a patient with a dentigerous cyst that caused paresthesia of the inferior alveolar nerve. This is only the second report of this nature noted in the literature. 1 Stevens M Greene S Dentigerous cyst: A case report. Bull Tri Cty Dent Soc. 1970; 19: 9 PubMed Google Scholar
