Abstract
Inferential control systems will significantly outperform conventional feedback control with higher order and dead time processes. In order to realize the advantages of Inferential Control, several issues must be addressed regarding practical implementation of the control system. These are:A.Elimination of control degradation due to saturation of the control effort.B.Bumpless Manual-automatic switchingC.The design of cascade control systems.Algorithms are presented for dealing with these issues. The methods have been applied to an industrial autoclave plant, with positive results.
