Abstract

Gamma globulin prophylaxis in a standard dose (0.01 cc/lb body weight) appears to be effective in limiting the community spread of infectious hepatitis. Ideally, this is true only if all the family contacts are immunized, as compared to families in whom alternate members are immunized. Contacts may be effectively immunized anytime during the first two weeks of the incubation period.
