Abstract

In parallel with the extensive use of antibiotics and other chemotherapeutic agents, drug-resistant bacteria have considerably increased and in the case of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria this increase has created a serious medical problem. Although new antibacterial agents have been developed to combat the drug-resistant pathogens, we had to realize that pathogenic bacteria acquired resistance to the new drugs as well. No chemotherapeutic agents have yet been discovered to which drug-resistant bacteria do not develop and consequently the problem of bacterial drug resistance has received much attention because of its medical importance. Drug-resistant bacteria also have caused much trouble in the field of veterinary medicine since various chemotherapeutic agents have been used for the treatment of animal infections.KeywordsDrug ResistanceTransfer FactorEnteric BacteriumMultiple Drug ResistanceHost ChromosomeThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
