Avian infl uenza H5N1 in Cambodia Five cases of avian infl uenza H5N1, including four fatalities, have been confi rmed so far in Cambodia in 2013. In all cases, the patients presented with fever, cough, and other symptoms of infl uenza-like illness. Four of the patients had been in close contact with poultry, and human-tohuman transmission is not suspected. The Cambodian Ministry of Health’s rapid response team is investigating the cases, and public health education campaigns are underway in villages to inform people about the virus and how to protect themselves from it.
