Abstract

Dietary fat alters the phospholipid composition throughout all membranes. The functional consequences of these changes are just beginning to be examined in relation to infant feeding. Varying the fatty acid composition of formulas changes the biochemical and physiological indices linked with growth, vision and cognitive function. Further definitive studies are needed to determine the impact of early nutrition on infant development.
