Abstract

As president of California Strolee, Inc, I am writing in response to the article in your December issue (Pediatrics 64:848, 1979) entitled, "Children's Car Seat Restraints: When Top-Tether Straps are Ignored, Are the Restraints Safe?" by Quentin McDonald. To say we were shocked that a prestigious scientific journal such as yours would print such a biased, irresponsible and self-serving document is truly an understatement. First and foremost, let us set the record straight. The tests cited in the article were commissioned by the Bobby Mac Company (a small manufacturer of infant restraint systems).
