Abstract

An inequality due to Mermin is used to state exact bounds for the Fourier-transformed static structure factor S( k) and direct correlation function c( k) in classical fluids. For Lennard-Jones type potentials, an inequality is given relating the isothermal compressibility, the average potential energy per particle and the pressure due to the interaction between the particles.
