Abstract

Inelastic neutron scattering experiments were performed on the ferromagnetic alloy Co 0.91Fe 0.09 by means of the diffraction method. The magnon dispersion relation was found to be of the form ħω( q ) = ħω(o) + Dq 2 for wave vectors q < 0.11 Å −1, with ħω(o) = 0.52 ± 0.16 meV and D = 275 ± 16 meV Å 2. For q ≈ 0.11 Å −1 a deviation from the quadratic form was observed. The possible influence of magnon-phonon interaction and magnon-conduction electron interaction on the magnon dispersion relation is discussed.
