Abstract

We investigate the variational functional which describes the self-localized electronic state on an edge dislocation in the case where the electron couples to the acoustic phonons via the deformation potential. The validity criteria for the occurrence of a condenson (acoustic polaron) state on the dislocation are derived. Relations between physical characteristics of the condenson state are obtained. The cross-section for multiphonon nuclear neutron scattering accompanied by condenson disintegration is calculated. The possibility of determination of the condenson photo- and thermoionization energies from the spectrum of the scattered neutrons is demonstrated.
